Why Politics Is The Husband and Business Is The Wife 🤣

In the animal kingdom, the lion comfortably sits atop the food chain. All other animals try within reasonable means to avoid any form of challenge or confrontation with these felines. The most fascinating things about a pride of lions are twofold. First, the clear orderliness that obtains around the presence of a tried and tested male. The females lead the hunt, fell prey, then leave their maned patriarch to partake of the catch first.

Second, is the amount of time and energy the male dedicates to a lioness hellbent on a successful conception. The lion here seems to wholeheartedly return the favour for being first at the table after every prey takedown. We, humans, don't come close, not even a decent second or third podium finish.

But that is as far as power dynamics and home economics pan out in the jungle, and nonetheless, an opportune analogy for us today.

In our world, political power and economic might are exercised through the corporate entities of parties and corporations respectively. And just like it is in the lion's world, sovereign power is fiercely contested for, only this time, ours is by the brain through fair elections and not brawn, though many times it comes to that.

The point here is, if the ultimate prize goes to the politicians via the head of state and government seat, then like the prolific lionesses in hunting and in procreation, the business organizations as spouses to politics must be the equivalent of the lionesses. No offense meant here. Many times, people working in corporate organizations are asked to man up regardless of their gender. What this simply means, is that they are being urged to stand up against any unfair pushing around by carrying their weight. There are instances when women are at the helm and have been asked to man up.

The common thread running through all politically-determined government leadership structures is that whilst they may be run by women, they tend to maintain a masculine character, and hence the reference, "she's got balls" gets used to describe a tough woman.

Again, as with the lionesses, the business world brings the hunt to the politicians via campaign financing and lets them eat their fill without asking questions. And the favours are returned through friendly legislation and lucrative government tenders. Here, the politicians dedicate much time to ensure that there is a successful conception of tenders won by the selected entities.

In every society since medieval times, concubines abound. These are the undocumented businesses bringing the hunt to the politicians who by nature love raw conquests. The sweetness of stolen things is only well known to the partakers. Many of these undocumented business dealings are too big to qualify as off-license operations but remain in the underworld to provide political nourishment when well-regulated entities find it hard to navigate the legal constraints of dealing with politically exposed persons. Special Purpose Vehicles can serve numerous political ends. Politicians always search for wriggle room and this is found through nondescript outfits that are legally shifty and can be suave or brazen whichever way they are required.

But as we know it, after all manner of acts in the field, people return home to the warm hands of their spouses. That is what the political class does when they return to acknowledge the importance of the corporate world in the economy. They are feted with national commendations, a fact admired by underworld operatives only on TV. Corporates wear the ring, the rest have meaningless bling.
